Year 13's Bea kicks off the new pupil blog by telling us what she got up to in the first full week of the new school year.
Thursday 7th September
Today the army came in to do a team building day with the
whole of 6th form. We had 5
challenges Anna and I thought we would get on the barrels
first but regretted our decision after not being able to lift the planks of
wood across and nearly falling off the barrel. After lots of laughs, we made it to the last
challenge. Our objective was to get the
whole group across a gap between two metal ramps. All we had were two metal poles, when we
dropped the poles in the gap we had a ‘punishment’ of push ups, burpees and
running. This is when I found out that
burpees were not my friend. After
multiple trials and errors, we had run out of time. It was disappointing when we were so close to
completing the challenge, but afterwards when we found out none of the other
groups could do it either. It made us
feel better.
to do in our groups, this ranged from Sudoku to using planks of wood
and upright barrels to get our group across a lawn.
Friday 8th
After a day of lessons, I went skiing on the dry slope in
Llandudno. Ady and Henry spent an hour
skiing, while I was trying hard not to fall over. I was tired by the end of the week, but to
spend an hour or so with friends made me forget how shattered I was. We go skiing every Friday afternoon, some
people have lessons and others can free ski. I enjoy free skiing because you can chill and
just ski the way you want to. Skiing on
the dry slope isn’t the same as being on the slopes, everyone skiing today is
going on the ski trip in Italy in February. I went last year and really enjoyed it, I got
to know people I’d never spoken to before and made lots of memories.
Tuesday 12th
I went to Netball training in Abergele with Ella and Mitzi
tonight. We have training every week for
an hour and a half, and also have a game in the league on Monday nights. Last night Ella and I played a division 3 game
which we won 35-15, it was our first game back after the summer. I really enjoy netball outside as well as
inside of school, it gives us a chance to get out of school and meet new
people.
Wednesday 13th
Today we had the first whole school cross country practise. We ran in our houses, me with Snowdon. We had really nice weather which cheered
everyone up. The cross-country course is
about 6k and due to there being a field full of cow pats we had the course
diverted, instead we had to run around the rugby pitch field twice at the end.
This was the worst part for me as it seemed to never end. My legs were covered in mud and poo by the
end, but it felt good to have done it.
Friday 15th
House assembly is one of my favourite parts of the week,
maybe because it’s a day before the weekend? Maybe, maybe not.. Mr Demery told us to
believe in ourselves and don’t let anyone stop us from following our dreams;
advice I need when I have to leave school next year and potentially start a
career. Ady got his House Prefects tie,
Euan his House Colours and I got my House Captains badge, which I think I was
over excited for.
